1for2 Social Innovation supports and is connected to various initiatives, network organizations, professional associations, and registers in the Netherlands and beyond.
Development starts with connection. Through the initiatives below, we apply our expertise for young professionals, students, and future leaders — from training confidential counselors to sharing real-world experience at the intersection of security and diplomacy.
S.S.R.-Rotterdam is a close-knit student association in the heart of Rotterdam with approximately 800 active members — young people from diverse backgrounds, all in the midst of their personal and professional development. The association has both internal and external confidential counselors (alumni of the association).
1for2 Social Innovation supports S.S.R.’s internal confidential counselors by providing training and being available for consultation. In this way, we contribute to a safe association culture where members feel heard and protected.
JCI is a global network of young leaders aged 18 to 40, active in over 127 countries. The organization holds consultative status with the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO.
Our bond with JCI is personal and deep-rooted. In 2010, Kirsten Heukels served as national president of JCI Netherlands — an organization of over 2,000 members at the time. In that role, she addressed the United Nations in New York. Bas Kousemaker is also a JCI alumnus. Both have been appointed JCI Senators: a lifetime recognition for members who have made extraordinary contributions to the organization. Through the Senators network, we remain connected and regularly support initiatives and young professionals in their development.
European Horizons is an international, non-partisan student think tank founded at Yale University in 2015, with chapters at over sixty universities across three continents. The organization focuses on transatlantic relations, European integration, and democratic values, supported by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Programme.
1for2 Social Innovation sponsors the Leiden University Chapter and delivers an interactive workshop on crisis and hostage negotiation and profiling at their annual “Youth Security” conference (May 2026).
Diverse Leaders in Tech (DLiT) equips and empowers European tech companies to set the standard for DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) excellence — at scale. Based in Amsterdam, DLiT brings together a community of tech professionals committed to building inclusive workplaces.
Bas Kousemaker is an active member and mentor in DLiT’s Mentorship Program, driven by his background in tech and the conviction that allyship in diversity and inclusion is not just claimed — it is earned through action. Through DLiT, we stay connected to the European tech ecosystem and contribute to the next generation of diverse leadership.
“Meaningful work happens through meaningful connections. Every partnership in our network reflects a shared commitment to developing people — across generations, cultures, and disciplines.”
