Restorative & Crisis Mediation — by Pascal Comvalius

Some conversations aren’t meant to be won. They’re meant to be had — when a workplace conflict has gone past classic mediation, when values clash, or when an incident calls for repair rather than punishment.

Who is Pascal

Pascal Comvalius is a partner at 1for2 Social Innovation, ADR-accredited mediator and certified specialist in crisis and hostage negotiation (PATC). He has spent 25+ years in the field — in workplace conflicts, international negotiations and criminal mediation. Pascal is co-author of Mediation in strafzaken and is finishing a new book on prevention conversations around suicidal signals (publishing summer 2026). Together with Kirsten Heukels he leads the 1for2 Caribbean Center of Excellence.

Specialisations

  • Workplace & commercial mediation (board-level, multi-stakeholder)
  • Restorative justice in organisations (post-incident, integrity, transgressive behaviour)
  • On-demand crisis response (escalation, threat, hostage)
  • Suicide prevention — bystander, carer and professional perspectives
  • Profiling & interview technique (PATC, kinesic interviewing)
Organisations that bring me in are dealing with something that has already escalated. They need someone who knows how to slow it down without losing ground.

Workplace & commercial mediation

Pascal’s mediation practice within 1for2 focuses on situations where classic mediation reaches its limits.

Workplace mediation

Conflicts between leaders, teams or board members. Often multi-party, often entrenched, often with a legal component. Pascal works confidentially and is ADR-accredited.

Commercial & international mediation

Disputes between organisations, joint-venture partners or international stakeholders. Culturally sensitive, language-flexible, board-level reporting.

Restorative justice in organisations

When there has been an incident — fraud, integrity breach, transgressive behaviour — and punishment alone solves nothing. Pascal facilitates the repair process for victim, organisation and, where appropriate, perpetrator.

On-demand crisis response

When a situation escalates fast — a threat, a hostage, a hijacked reputation, a team imploding — waiting is not an option. Pascal is available for on-demand crisis response:

  • Structured negotiation protocol (PATC, ADR)
  • First contact within 4 hours, in NL and internationally
  • Confidential, with a direct line to the 1for2 Caribbean CoE when regionally relevant
  • Written debrief within 48 hours of resolution

Call directly: +31 (0)10 220 11 13 · or email crisis@1for2.nl [TBD: confirm dedicated crisis mailbox]

Going deeper in the Caribbean (12-16 October 2026)
